Bloon: Software and Hardware for Data Collection and Real-Time Analysis
Bloon is a powerful, user-friendly parsing and plotting utility optimized for use in real-time applications that I wrote for the Mac. Its generalized parser is capable of handling a wide variety of data formats. If you can define it in Bloon’s parsing language, then Bloon can parse and plot it. Bloon’s grapher is also extremely powerful, allowing users to zoom and scroll about millions of data points smoothly in real time. Bloon makes the difficult task of real-time data collection and visualization a breeze
Blount v. Blount, 138 Nev. Adv. Op. 52 (Jul. 07, 2022)
The court ruled that the statutory language found in NRS 125A.465, Nevada’s codification of the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA), is unambiguous and that its plain meaning applies as written. The court specifically addressed the timeline in which parties with existing custody or visitation rights can challenge new registrations of custody orders seeking to amend or alter existing orders. Appellants attempted to block the Nevada registration of an updated child custody determination ordered by a neighboring Tribal Court, by filing a challenge to the registration twenty-four days after receiving notice, four days after the allowable time requirement. The district court confirmed the registration by concluding that the neighboring jurisdiction had exclusive authority to amend the child custody determination. On appeal, the Nevada Supreme Court affirmed the confirmation of the registration after holding that the language in NRS 125A.465, requiring challenges to be made within twenty days of notice, was unambiguous and would be applied as written. Therefore, the statutory twenty-day challenge window was intended to be strictly enforced, the appellants untimely challenge mandated a confirmation of the order as a matter of law , and once confirmed by the district court, any further arguments which could have been brought during the twenty-day window were precluded from appellate challenge
Topological partition relations to the form omega^*-> (Y)^1_2
Theorem: The topological partition relation omega^{*}-> (Y)^{1}_{2}
(a) fails for every space Y with |Y| >= 2^c ;
(b) holds for Y discrete if and only if |Y| <= c;
(c) holds for certain non-discrete P-spaces Y ;
(d) fails for Y= omega cup {p} with p in omega^{*} ;
(e) fails for Y infinite and countably compact
Damage-cluster distributions and size effect on strength in compressive failure
We investigate compressive failure of heterogeneous materials on the basis of
a continuous progressive damage model. The model explicitely accounts for
tensile and shear local damage and reproduces the main features of compressive
failure of brittle materials like rocks or ice. We show that the size
distribution of damage-clusters, as well as the evolution of an order
parameter, the size of the largest damage-cluster, argue for a critical
interpretation of fracture. The compressive failure strength follows a normal
distribution with a very small size effect on the mean strength, in good
agreement with experiments
Unapređenje procesa u metalurškoj kompaniji
The field of quality is very important for a company under current conditions. It is necessary to continuously improve the quality of provided services. Even though metallurgy is focused on production, not on providing services, even in these companies great variety of services exists, which is important to improve all the time. One of these production supporting services are the repairs. This article analyses and solves the problem of insufficient promptness of the repairs in a metallurgy company.U suvremenim uvjetima poslovanja područje kvalitete vrlo je važno za kompaniju.
Transport properties of a 3D topological insulator based on a strained high mobility HgTe film
We investigated the magnetotransport properties of strained, 80nm thick HgTe
layers featuring a high mobility of mu =4x10^5 cm^2/Vs. By means of a top gate
the Fermi-energy is tuned from the valence band through the Dirac type surface
states into the conduction band. Magnetotransport measurements allow to
disentangle the different contributions of conduction band electrons, holes and
Dirac electrons to the conductivity. The results are are in line with previous
claims that strained HgTe is a topological insulator with a bulk gap of ~15meV
and gapless surface states.Comment: 11 pages (4 pages of main text, 6 pages of supplemental materials), 8

Stationary entanglement in strongly coupled qubits
The dynamics of two superconducting flux qubits coupled to each other and to
a common bath is discussed. We focus on the case in which the qubit-qubit
coupling strength dominates over the respective qubit transition frequencies.
We derive the master equation including collective effect by modeling the bath
as 1D open space in this ultra-strong coupling regime, and find that the
coupling greatly modifies both the coherent and the incoherent dynamics of the
system, giving rise to qualitatively different properties. By analyzing the
steady-state and the dynamics governed by the master equation, we show that
ground state entanglement and maximum coherence between the two qubits can be
induced by the environment alone. By employing in addition a single external
driving field, both the entangled anti-symmetric and symmetric collective
states can be populated and preserved with high fidelity. Similarly, entangled
states can be prepared using adiabatic passage techniques using two external
fields. Our results could find applications in entangling quantum gates and
quantum memories free from the decoherence.Comment: 19 pages, 21 figure
Overcoming Administrative, Procedural and Evidentiary Hurdles in Ponzi Scheme Litigation
The unfortunate reality that comes with a Ponzi scheme case in bankruptcy is a mass of deceived unsecured creditors clamoring for their money back, and few, if any, present assets within the bankruptcy estate with which to pay them. The sheer size of most Ponzi schemes cases necessarily presents unique evidentiary, procedural and administrative challenges to professionals seeking to sort out the failed Ponzi enterprise. Ponzi scheme cases are riddled with litigation, which generally falls into four categories: (1) litigation against the Ponzi scheme operator(s), (2) litigation against parties who enabled the scheme to continue (such as professionals), (3) litigation to recover assets (such as legitimate accounts receivable or proceeds from the sale of property), and (4) avoidance actions against those who received property from the Ponzi scheme. This fourth category (and sometimes the third) may involve hundreds of defendants, who may be located throughout the country (or even the world).
This Article provides strategic suggestions and practical applications for Ponzi scheme litigation, including filing a procedures motion, seeking substantive or administrative consolidation, and utilizing and overcoming evidentiary hurdles.

Artifact of the phonon-induced localization by variational calculations in the spin-boson model
We present energy and free energy analyses on all variational schemes used in
the spin-boson model at both T=0 and . It is found that all the
variational schemes have fail points, at where the variational schemes fail to
provide a lower energy (or a lower free energy at ) than the
displaced-oscillator ground state and therefore the variational ground state
becomes unstable, which results in a transition from a variational ground state
to a displaced oscillator ground state when the fail point is reached. Such
transitions are always misidentied as crossover from a delocalized to localized
phases in variational calculations, leading to an artifact of phonon-induced
localization. Physics origin of the fail points and explanations for different
transition behaviors with different spectral functions are found by studying
the fail points of the variational schemes in the single mode case.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figure
